Day 1: Haridwar to Barkot
Begin your sacred journey with a scenic drive from Haridwar to Barkot, enjoying beautiful mountain views and the fresh Himalayan air. Upon arrival, check into your hotel and relax, preparing for the spiritual adventures ahead. This peaceful hill station sets the tone for the pilgrimage.
Day 2: Barkot to Yamunotri and back to Barkot
Start early with a drive to Janki Chatti, the trekking base point to Yamunotri, the first sacred dham. Embark on a trek of approximately 6-7 kilometers through lush forests, or opt for a pony or palanquin ride if preferred. Once at Yamunotri Temple, take a holy dip in the natural hot springs and offer your prayers. After a soulful experience, return to Barkot for rest and overnight stay.
Day 3: Barkot to Uttarkashi
After breakfast, take a comfortable drive to Uttarkashi, known as the ‘Kashi of the North’. En route, admire the scenic landscapes and upon reaching, visit famous temples including Prakateshwar Mahadev and Vishwanath Temple. Spend a calm evening soaking in the spiritual ambiance before settling in for the night.
Day 4: Uttarkashi to Gangotri and back to Uttarkashi
Embark early for Gangotri, the origin of the holy river Ganges. Absorb the serene surroundings and partake in ceremonial rituals at the Gangotri Temple. Take a dip in the cold, pristine waters of the Bhagirathi River if you wish. Post darshan, return to Uttarkashi to rest and rejuvenate for the next day’s journey.
Day 5: Uttarkashi to Guptkashi
Travel from Uttarkashi to Guptkashi via picturesque mountain roads, enjoying captivating natural beauty and quaint villages. Guptkashi holds significant religious importance as the gateway to Kedarnath and has ancient temples to explore. Check in for an overnight stay and prepare for the upcoming trek.
Day 6: Guptkashi to Kedarnath
Begin your day with a drive to Gaurikund, followed by a thrilling 16-kilometer trek or helicopter ride to the majestic Kedarnath Temple, set against the majestic Himalayan backdrop. Experience deep spiritual solace upon darshan of the Shiva shrine revered across India. Spend a peaceful night near the temple, immersed in the divine atmosphere.
Day 7: Kedarnath to Guptkashi
After morning prayers and soaking in Kedarnath’s tranquil environs, trek back to Gaurikund or take a helicopter ride, then return by road to Guptkashi. Use the evening for rest after an emotionally and physically fulfilling day.
Day 8: Guptkashi to Badrinath
Drive to Badrinath, traveling through the beautiful towns of Joshimath and the surrounding Himalayan valleys. Upon arrival, visit the Badrinath Temple, dedicated to Lord Vishnu, and explore the quaint town surroundings. Overnight stay in Badrinath offers time for spiritual reflection and rest.
Day 9: Badrinath Darshan and Return to Haridwar
Begin your day with an early morning visit to Badrinath Temple for darshan and prayers. Later, explore nearby sites including Mana Village, the last Indian village before Tibet, and natural wonders like Vyas Gufa and Tapt Kund hot springs. After a fulfilling day of spiritual and cultural experiences, commence your return journey to Haridwar, a scenic drive of approximately 10 to 12 hours. Travel through picturesque towns like Joshimath, Rudraprayag, Devprayag, and Rishikesh, enjoying the panoramic Himalayan landscapes and serene river valleys. Arrive in Haridwar by evening, marking the conclusion of your deeply enriching and transformative Chardham Yatra.
